Teen Battle of the Bands
Common Ground’s 5th annual Teen Battle of the Bands is scheduled for Friday, August 13 at 2299 West 12 Mile Rd. in Berkley. Showtime is 6 p.m. We’re looking for teens ages 12-22 to compete for prizes, publicity and bragging rights.
This fun, alcohol and drug free event promotes Common Ground’s teen drop-in center ReaLife, which offers teens a place to hang out and be themselves as well as outpatient counseling including interpersonal and recreational groups, educational assistance, community referrals and crisis intervention for homeless and runaway youths ages 12-22. It’s free to participate and free to attend so pass the word on.
All participants will receive a gift bag with their band name on it and a gift card. There will be prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners and a free raffle to give away some cool stuff to attendees.
So start practicing–submissions are due July 9. Send a link with 2 songs to Melissa Hope, coordinator of the Street Outreach Program or connect through REALife at myspace: cgsrealife. You and your band could be the next big discovery. Don’t wait, contact Melissa Hope at mhope@commongroundhelps.org for more info or to sign up. To donate a prize, email her or call her at 248-874-1282 ext. 6100.
